Are you sick and tired of working for the man? Sitting in the same office in the same cubicle for 8+ hours a day, not being compensated fairly for your hard work? Are you ready to quit your 9 to 5 and become the mogul you were born to be? Great, I love the enthusiasm! But before you dive in head first, let’s look at the pros and cons of quitting your 9 to 5 job and starting your own online business.

On one side you have the “Pro”, the positions in favor:

The number one point in support for quitting your nine to five career to start your own web business will be more quality time with your family and friends.

The secondary positive point is the opportunity to hand pick who you work with.

A third favorable point is a much more flexible schedule.

And last (although not necessarily least) we’ve got the fourth point in support of quitting your 9 to five work to begin your own online business is going to be the chance to work harder and earn more money! With a salaried job, most of the time your pay is limited to your salary. Especially in the past few years, companies have been cutting back, if not eliminating bonuses completely. Owning your own business gives you full control over what you make.

Now on the other hand, for balance, the Con side :

Firstly, the point against will be lack of security. There are going to be those days when you feel like there’s no money coming in and you’re busting your ass for nothing. No one said it’s going to be easy.

The second point in contra will be health insurance. Some people take insurance for granted when they work for an employer and it slips their mind when considering leaving a job. There are some good options out there for self-employed workers, but it’s not going to be as nice as having someone else cover you. This holds especially true if you have a family to take care of.

A third significant point against is paid vacation. Being self-employed, you’ll have to plan out your cash flow if you want to take an extended time off. If you’re not working, you may not be getting paid. Of course, our goal is to set up automated income streams so that this won’t be a problem, but it could cause issues while you’re getting started.

So there you have it, the pros and the cons, the points in favor and then the points against.

So, with the final analysis is giving up your 9 to 5 job to begin your own web business a good thing or a bad thing?

The answer is up to you. Quitting your 9 to 5 career to get started with your own web business is a blend of of good and bad… It needs to be left up to the reader to decide. Which side, the good or the bad, has the preponderance of weight of opinion? Personally, I can’t wait to have a fully automated income stream that I’m going to work hard to build. What do you think?
